About This Spot

Stepping into Hajime, you’re greeted by a rhythm that’s unhurried yet inviting—a comfortable blend of suburban warmth and the subtle hum of lively conversation. The setting is familiar but thoughtfully arranged, where the gentle clatter of sushi plates and the quiet pop of sake bottles set an intimate scene perfect for both a casual night out and a small family celebration.

The atmosphere carries a balanced energy; it’s neither rushed nor overly subdued. Friendly exchanges between staff and diners add a personal touch, making the space feel less like a restaurant and more like a shared neighborhood find. Though the room can fill with the noises of happy diners, it never feels overwhelming—rather, it’s a testament to the local appeal Hajime has cultivated over time.

The menu invites you to explore layers of flavor that reflect care in every bite. You might find a beautifully fresh sashimi plate or a roll with just the right balance of heat and texture that surprises and delights without fuss. Beyond sushi, there’s a softly charred grilled squid or a comforting bowl of Japanese fried rice that brings a touch of home-cooked familiarity. Drinks here come with as much thought—the cocktail list offers a refreshing complement, while a selection of beers provides the kind of choice that suits various moods and moments.

Hajime’s appeal lies in these understated moments—the quick delivery of a favorite dish, a server’s friendly check-in, or the way families find options that make everyone at the table smile. It’s a spot where fresh ingredients meet approachable dining, and where the simple pleasure of an evening out is wrapped up in genuine, human connection.

Great suburb option for sushi! The sushi wasn't frozen, the wasabi was hot, the rice was sticky. Can't ask for much more! We waited a bit for a table on a Saturday night but it wasn't for very long. Server was really friendly and asked us our thoughts on everything we ordered. I recommend ordering the Omakase - the sushi chef picked excellent items! So good!! We also enjoyed the Hero roll and the ocean lover roll.

I came here for dinner with my family and overall we had a great time. All the food we got came out quick, and it was all absolutely amazing. I also saw a lunch menu on the other side, and my jaw dropped at these affordable prices for great quality food. My only concern is the service. I barely saw my waitress, and we had dirty plates sitting on our table for a while. Also, there are oysters on the menu, but the waitress told me they were out. I asked when they would be back in stock, and she says they no longer have them. She said it’s on the menu because it costs the business $8,000-$10,000 to print new menus. She was just overall kind of rude about it. Please update your menu. If it costs too much to do that, please go through, and scratch it out with a pen on each menu. I got my hopes up really high for some raw oysters, just to be told it is not even a menu item, but for some reason it’s on the menu….

Food was pretty good for the most part. Chicken in our fried rice was terrible. The menu was not very explanatory like what you get with some of the entrées or meals. The cleanliness especial in the bathroom was gross. I’m happy I went but honestly don’t care if I ever do again.

We go to Hajime regularly. Their sushi are delicious, very fresh and reasonably priced. There is a good diversity of cocktails and the kids menu is well thought out. The service is impeccable. The room can get a little noisy when the place gets busy but other than that it is a family favorite! Highly recommend.

Our family loves this place. Lots of varieties of sushi and other Asian cuisine. Our server Jen was great as always and the food was delicious. They have a chicken hibachi now that is way better than Osaka. The portions are more and the fried rice actually has chicken in it! They also have a happy hour after 9pm. Place is always clean and nice. Great place for Asian cuisine.

I do not like sushi, but went there with some friends who are into sushi. Everyone liked the sushi varieties and had only good things to say about the quality and quantity. I ordered a beef fried rice and it was ok. Quantity and price was good. People are very nice and the place is well maintained. The place was really crowded, may be it’s a good sign that people like the place.

The food was great and the atmosphere was remarkable! Lots of alcohol available if that’s your thing. Amazing lunch menu for fast deals and great meals!

It’s a good experience in general. Nice atmosphere, good and quick service considering how busy they are. Honestly when compares to sushi in California, it will be average, but probably good enough for this area. Mussels was good, fried rice was delicious, but sushi rice is kind of too dry
